Roadmap watch: latest changes to upcoming Teams meeting schedules

Another day, another updates to the Microsoft Teams roadmap! While none of is happy to see schedules updating to a later month but I appreciate that they commit to the ready features and also let us know when to expect them to roll out. I would love to see them updating the dates more often, but I am quite certain there is a lots of busy people in the product team.

Live Reactions postponed to January / Febrary 2021

“React during a meeting using emojis that will appear to all participants”

This item appears in the roadmap twice (when I am writing this). Another entry states it is rolling out in January 2021 and the other one February 2021.

Custom Layouts for meeting in February 2021

“Presenters will be able to customize how content shows up for meeting participants, including overlaying their video on content or moving their content box to a corner of the video view – allowing for a more dynamic content viewing experience where presenters can easily direct their audiences’ attention through hand gestures and facial cues, without making the viewer choose between the speaker and the content.”

Meeting attendee registration in January 2021

This is the so called webinar functionality for Microsoft Teams.

“Add a custom attendee registration page to any meeting to better manage attendance before and after any engagement. Following registration, attendees receive an email confirmation with calendar invite.”

Presenter View in Microsoft Teams : January 2021

I interpret this as being able to present PowerPoint presentation via Teams and still have access to presenter view.

“Presenters can view slide notes and upcoming slides helping the presenters keep the meeting on track, discuss meeting notes as needed and navigate to meeting slides quickly.”
